Elon Musk argues with the journalist and then cancels his show on

Yesterday was not easy for the number one of Tesla and SpaceX. In fact, Elon Musk has confirmed that he uses ketamine, but he has also been dealing with the case of the Don Lemon interview which pushed the South African to cancel the show from X.

The reason? The topics covered during the chat, including hate speech and right-wing conspiracy theories.

Don Lemon posted the interview on YouTube, and as can be seen from the player present at the beginning, halfway through the chat the tone changes radically when he begins to address topics such as illegal immigration and the theory of ethnic substitution which is very popular in far-right circles. However, Lemon also asks Musk for a comment on X’s moderation policy, and asks him if better content moderation on the social platform would avoid some criticism.

At this point Musk responds angrily: “I don’t have to answer journalists’ questions” states, then continuing that “the only reason I’m doing this interview is because you’re on X and because you asked. Otherwise we wouldn’t have done it”. According to the entrepreneur, however, “I don’t think people should worry about what the media thinks of them.”

I two also continue to discuss the hate speech on X in the following minutes and Lemon cites a study according to which anti-Semitic posts on social media grew from June 2022 to February 2023. Musk says that such studies are not indicative as they examine “only the number of posts and not the number of views.”

When Lemon suggests he remove such posts as they may incite violence, is accused by Musk of “loving censorship”, as X will only remove illegal content. “You can sign up now and do 100 things that are obnoxious, but if no one reads it, it doesn’t matter” concluded Musk, who in closing states that the United States should put the “history of racism” Since “we are all descended from slaves”. Even to this last statement, Lemon responds annoyed by observing that “they were not all slaves“, and recounts some episodes in which he himself experienced discrimination, which is in all respects an insult although “someone say that this didn’t happen and that I should move on and ignore the past”. Musk responds by saying that the journalist is putting words in his mouth that he has never said and that “we should treat people as individuals and base our opinions of them on their character.”

The conflicts continued even after publication: the former CNN host in fact stated that Musk has decided to cancel the agreement with X to publish further episodes of his show, after the interview. Musk also confirmed everything by saying that the show was too similar to CNN. Episodes will be uploaded to X, but not previewed.
