The first patient to receive a chip Neuralink managed to move a cursor on a monitor using only the mind.
This is what Elon Musk declared, who founded Neuralink in 2016during a āspaceā on X, i.e. a live conversation in which users of the social network can participate.
āThe progress is very good, the patient seems to have recovered completely from the surgery and is able to control the mouse and move it on the screen simply by thinking,ā Musk said during his speech. You can listen to his statements here:
Yesterday, @elonmusk broke news that the first human patient implanted with Neuralink appears to have fully recovered and is able to control a computer mouse just by thinking.
A major step toward enabling patients with motor impairments to communicate with the world.

The patient in question was the first human to have a Neuralink chip implanted in the brain. The operation took place at the end of January.
āImagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a typistā ā Musk said in a tweet announcing the first test of Neuralink on humans -. Thatās the goal.ā
Enables control of your phone or computer, and through them almost any device, just by thinking.
Initial users will be those who have lost the use of their limbs.
Imagine if Stephen Hawking could communicate faster than a speed typist or auctioneer. That is the goal.

Elon Musk continues to use X to provide the little official news on Neuralinkās human trials. However, The scientific community does not like this procedure.
āOpening the brain of a living human being to insert a device, especially someone with serious health problems, deserves more than a two-sentence bulletin on what is, in effect, a private social media platform that does not distinguish itself by its reliability,ā said a spokesperson for The Hastings Centerthe worldās longest-running independent, non-partisan bioethics research institute.
