Facebook Messenger can be used without a Facebook account: new in the EU

The Digital Market Act of the European Union also “changes” Meta and its platforms. In fact, EU users will have the possibility to disconnect your Instagram and Facebook accounts and in general from other services in the Meta world before March, i.e. when the package of rules will come into force.

L’announcement came directly from Mark Zuckerberg’s social networkwho explained that this innovation will arrive exclusively in the European Union, the European Economic Area and Switzerland and over the next few weeks users will be informed with a notification of the possibility.

This means that users will have the ability to use Meta’s services without information being shared between them. Facebook Messenger will also be affected by this change and you can use it as a standalone service even without a Facebook profile. Mark Zuckerberg’s company explains in its official documentation that linking accounts is used exclusively for targeting advertisements, content and sharing posts.

Lo the same will also apply to Facebook Marketplace and Facebook Gamingwhich can be used without a Facebook account, but Meta explained that in this case the experience will be “reduced”: in fact, with sellers and buyers you will necessarily have to communicate via email rather than on Facebook Messenger, while as regards Facebook Gaming the experience will be limited to singleplayer games.
