Clock in landscape format
I don’t even know how I came up with that. I usually connect my cell phone, an iPhone, to the charging cable at night and place it face down so that it doesn’t light up the room when some message comes in.
That evening I placed it in landscape format with a fold-out ring that is integrated into the case on the back and saw amazing things in the dark:
ALT
The phone displays a clock with very dim red lighting. You can choose two dials on the left or the stock market prices by swiping up and down. Location, temperature and other weather information are displayed on the right. There are also a few options hidden there.
Fortunately, the clock is so big that I can still read it quite well despite my increasingly presbyopia. The display dims completely after a few seconds and lights up again when you move (wiggle your head or wave your hand in front of the iPhone). Every now and then the clock stopped for some unknown reason and only updated itself when you swiped around. But that’s over. I haven’t figured out whether this is a bug or a feature.
I really like what I found out. How long have iPhones been able to do this?
