Google Messages continues to add improvements. The application for Android users has chosen to use RCS (Rich Communication Services) technology, which has allowed it to improve in recent times and will now add the ability to edit messages already sent.
The arrival of this function has been progressive, so not all users have had access to it. Users participating in the app’s beta now reportedly have the ability to edit messages up to 15 minutes after sending them. This window of time gives users the opportunity to correct typos, improve message clarity, or make necessary adjustments without having to delete and resend the entire message.
To access the editing feature, users simply need to press and hold the message they want to edit. This will open a menu that includes the option to edit the message. Once the editing option is selected, users can make the necessary changes to the text and then send the corrected version of the message.
It’s important to note that while this feature is certainly a cool addition to Google Messages, there are certain requirements and limitations. First of all, both the sender and recipient of the message must be using the beta version of the app in order to take advantage of the editing feature, for now.
This may initially limit the accessibility of the feature, as not all users may be willing or able to participate in the beta program.
Additionally, there is a limited time window of 15 minutes after sending a message to make edits. While this offers some flexibility to fix errors quickly, it also imposes a time constraint that may be inconvenient in some situations.
