Graz startup Lokistix wins home and advances to the grand finale

On Tuesday evening, another city pitch for the big #believebandich Challenge 2024 took place in Graz, where even a local participant was able to convince. This time, seven different startups in the “Green Mobility” category were in the spotlight and pitched their ideas. BET-Motors, Bikes 4 Cargo, cyclebee, easily, Fourown, Lokistix and Pave Commute: They all tried to convince the jury with their pitches and had three minutes to do so. Because only one of them can get the coveted final place in Austria’s largest startup competition run by Erste Bank and Sparkasse, the business start-up service of the Chamber of Commerce and Trending Topics. The winning startup of the city pitch was the transport startup Lokistix.

Lokistix Co-Founder: “We absolutely didn’t expect us to win today”

The Graz startup Lokistix has developed an innovative packaging solution for battery cells. Through a special cooling mechanism, it is intended to offer safety, efficiency and traceability and, at the same time, contribute to optimizing logistics costs. Lokistix wants to reduce battery fires by tackling the causes. Winner and co-founder David Reiter: “We surprisingly got the chance to be there last minute on Friday last week because we are lucky enough to be incubated at the Science Park and we were given the chance to pitch through this network . We absolutely didn’t expect to win today, but the great event provided a suitable location and community.” Lokistix now has the chance to pitch for the title of “Startup of the Year” at the big #believebandich finale in Vienna on April 3, 2024.

Convinced jury: innovative and disruptive business model

“Today I am on the jury for the #believebandich challenge for the fourth time in a row and it is amazing every year how many diverse and especially new startups present their projects. We evaluated the technological innovations, the feasibility and the quality of the respective pitches and ultimately decided on Lokistix because they are built on both a disruptive and innovative business model,” said jury member Julian Pekler, Managing Director of Gratia GmbH, about the Jury decision. For Yves Pircher, Investment Manager at Smartworks Innovation and also part of the jury, the following factors were crucial for the decision: “There were great pitches and there was a detailed discussion by the jury. We made the decision based in particular on Lokistix’s technical considerations, as there is real research and development behind this startup.” The other well-known jury members were Oliver Kröpfl (Board Member of Steiermärkische Sparkasse) and Georg Zenker (CEO Zen11 Holding GmbH). The Klagenfurt #glaubandich Challenge was moderated by Ulrike Kriegler.

Lokistix has won the Graz City Pitch 2024. The startup receives a fixed place in the final of the Startup Challenge, where 10,000 euros are up for grabs. The transport startup also received prize money of 1,000 euros from Erste Bank and Sparkasse as well as two licenses for the digital training platform “wîse up” from the Chamber of Commerce’s start-up service.
