In 2023, significantly more solar systems with a total output of around 1,860 megawatts were installed in Baden-Württemberg, compared to 817 megawatts in the previous year. This increase is attributed to legal changes that make it easier for citizens and companies to set up photovoltaic systems.
The industry association emphasizes that an annual increase of 4,000 megawatts is required to comply with the Paris climate agreement.

To achieve this goal, around 350 medium-sized systems are needed on residential buildings and ten larger systems on commercial buildings or parking lots every day. In order to accelerate expansion, the association is calling for the certification of medium-sized systems to be simplified.
Environment Minister Thekla Walker was pleased with the numbers. “These record numbers show that we are on the right track in the solar sector,” said the Green politician. In order to achieve the climate goals and keep electricity prices cheap, the expansion must continue, especially in the area of open-space photovoltaics.
