Epic Games to Launch Epic Games Store on iOS Platform in Response to Apple’s Adjustments to App Store Policies
Following Apple’s announcement of adjustments to its App Store policies in response to the EU’s digital market laws, Epic Games has confirmed plans to launch the iOS platform version of the Epic Games Store service on the App Store in the EU. This move will allow the popular game “Fortress Heroes” to be made available on the iOS platform once again.
Previously, “Fortress Heroes” was unavailable on the iOS platform due to the legal battle between Epic Games and Apple. It could only be played indirectly through streaming game services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming or GeForce Now.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney stated on his personal “X” page that the launch of the iOS version of the Epic Games Store service will be in response to the new App Store regulations and will allow users to purchase games on the Epic Games Store, including “Fortress Heroes,” which was previously removed from the App Store.
However, Epic Games did not disclose the specific launch schedule for the iOS version of the Epic Games Store service, as the details are still subject to Apple’s regulations. Sweeney also took a jab at Apple, accusing the company of often restricting others by formulating rules in an effort to position themselves for a better competitive advantage and flaunt free competition.
In response to the EU Digital Market Law, Apple has made many adjustments to the App Store in global regions, including allowing a single app to use multiple games in streaming mode and integrating chatbots and various add-ons. Apple also confirmed that it will allow game market services such as Steam to conduct in-app transactions on the iOS platform, which means that game market services such as Epic Games can also conduct in-app transactions on the iOS platform.

The move to launch the Epic Games Store on the iOS platform is seen as a significant development in the ongoing legal battle between Epic Games and Apple, and it will provide iOS users in the EU with access to a wider range of gaming options.
