Juice Technology AG, the manufacturer behind the popular Juice Booster 2 which I had already tested, is coming onto the market with a new solution for electric car drivers. This time it’s not hardware, but a multifunctional web and mobile app that bundles all relevant vehicle, driving and charging data in one place.
j+ Pilot
The “J+ Pilot” software solution focuses on all relevant information on vehicle, driving behavior, charging processes and energy consumption in one place. The app also serves as a tax-accepted logbook and thanks to the integrated activation and control function as a key to the charging station. The app can be used on both smartphones and tablets (iOS and Android) and also exists in a web version for convenient viewing and editing on a desktop computer. Regardless of the device, comprehensive vehicle, trip and charging analyzes are available to users. The views can also be individually personalized.

Vampire Drain – charging with renewable energy
Anyone who drives efficiently drives ecologically. Because each trip is recorded automatically, the J+ Pilot shows you directly how much energy the car consumes and recuperates during any trip. This creates an incentive for economical driving.
To determine the effective consumption, not only the energy used for the journey is taken into account, but also the so-called vampire drain, i.e. the outflow during idle times. Even the degradation of the battery is determined and displayed graphically.
In order to reduce these effects, it is worth loading regularly and slowly (“snoring shop”) instead of fastadestations. The smartJuice load and charging management, which is also available via the j+ pilot, ensures optimized charging behavior.
E-car drivers can also breastfeed their environmentally friendly conscience if they draw the electricity from a sustainable source. One option that is available thanks to the j+ pilot is to preferentially use solar power from our own production to charge the vehicle.
Facts & compatibility with the j+ Pilot
The app can be used independently of the Juice devices. An optionally available OBD2 connector will soon not offer the data available via the cloud.
At the start of the app, eight vehicle models from various manufacturers are already compatible: with the Audi E-Ton, the Opel Corsa-E, the Peugeot 208, the Tesla models S, 3, X and Y and the i3 from BMW. The app is not bound to certain manufacturers and can easily be used with other vehicle models.

The j+ pilot is now available for download as a beta version in the App Store and the Google Play Store. The app is available in German and in English for the time being.
The basic version of the j+ pilot is free for the first four months. In-app purchases allow users to use the app to its full extent. Juice device owners benefit from free features for life.
