Mediterranean Hella video game forged by the artistic vision of the Italian studio Holy Regionhas won the prestigious Award for Excellence in Storytelling all’Independent Games Festival (IGF), recently held in San Francisco as part of the Game Developers Conference (GDC).
The game, set in Puglia, thus becomes the first Italian title to be honored with an award as part of this globally important festival.

The plot of “Mediterranea Inferno” unfolds through themes of friendship, queer identity and the trauma shared by Generation Z, all set in the context of an Italy awakened from pandemic torpor.
The official synopsis of the video game reads:
“Three young people in their twenties reconnect after two years of forced isolation, hoping to rekindle their friendship. An exceptional bond that made the trio truly special! A mythological force that is far beyond the sum of its parts! Or at least that’s what they think. As you choose their activities for the day, you will discover their darkest fears, their obsessions and, when the reality of their failed expectations becomes apparent, their thirst for revenge and punishment. A lazy afternoon by the pool, a lustful night at the disco or even a morbid visit to the local cemetery: you will decide how to spend these summer holidays, but wherever you go, something or someone will be waiting for you, offering you a further, forbidden journey into the arcane internal spaces of consciousness“
