Microsoft Office is getting a new stand-alone version again this year. Unlike Microsoft 365, it is not a subscription model. You have to pay for the software once and then use it for as long as you want.

After the last Office version was introduced in 2021, there will finally be a successor this year. Both an LTSC version for commercial purposes and a normal version for private individuals are planned. While the LTSC version should be available as a preview from next month, private individuals will have to wait a little longer. A specific release date has not yet been set.
Although Office 2024 will have some new features, you still have to make a few compromises compared to Microsoft 365. Among other things, you have to do without real-time collaboration, AI-controlled automation in Word, Excel and PowerPoint or cloud-supported security and compliance functions.
Office 2024 will be supported for a total of five years. This applies to both the commercial and private versions. As a reminder: support for Office 2021 ends on October 13, 2026. An extension is not planned at this time.
There is good news for all private users. The recommended retail prices remain the same. Only the LTSC version is said to be up to 10 percent more expensive in comparison. By the way, Office 2024 will be available not only for Windows, but also for MacOS.
