Microsoft has announced the launch of a preview beta version of its new Sticky Notes app for Windows. The app, which is now available in OneNote, marks the first phase of testing, with future updates to make it possible to create new sticky notes independent of OneNote.
The new Sticky Notes app features a modern look that matches the current overall Windows design and introduces a convenient feature that makes it easier to write content, capture web pages, and application files. Users can take a screenshot of a file or website, and the post-it note will be linked to the screenshot, allowing for easy access to the source with just one mouse click.
The app also allows users to create multiple sticky notes using their Microsoft account, change note colors, set internal file formats, and sync across devices. This means that sticky notes can be accessed on mobile devices through the OneNote app on iOS and Android.
The new Sticky Notes app is currently rolling out to Microsoft 365 Insider users in the preview channel. Users wishing to test it must have build number 17328.20000 or higher of OneNote for Windows version 2402. However, the rollout is being done gradually, which means that not all users will receive the feature at the same time.
Microsoft has highlighted that this is just the first phase of testing and that future updates will bring even more functionality to the new Sticky Notes app. The company encourages users to be patient as they await the rollout of this new feature.
