Microsoft Phases Out Windows 11 21H2 Version, Urges Users to Upgrade for Security

Microsoft has announced that it will phase out the Windows 11 21H2 version, which will stop supporting it in October. This is the first version to be phased out since the system was released. Users are urged to upgrade as soon as possible to avoid threats to computer security.

According to Microsoft’s official statement, the first 21H2 version of the Windows 11 system will officially enter history on October 10 this year, and no updates will be provided in the future. It is expected to cover systems including Windows 11 Home, Windows 11 Pro, Windows 11 Pro for Workstations, Windows 11 Pro Education, etc. Subsequent users will be able to upgrade to 22H2, or 23H2 to be released this fall.

Currently, the 21H2 and 22H2 versions of Windows 11 have no support issues, and most devices can be directly upgraded. In order to speed up the phase-out of old versions, Microsoft has been targeting 21H2 version computers since the beginning of this year and resorted to “forced upgrade” measures. In addition, Microsoft is also phasing out the Windows 10 system. At present, only the 22H2 version is still officially supported, and it is expected to be fully discontinued by October 2025.

Windows 10 is still mainstream

The first version of Windows 11 will be phased out, and even the life cycle of Windows 10 will come to an end. However, according to Statcounter data, the mainstream is still Windows 10. As of June, as many as 70% of users worldwide have not yet upgraded to Windows 11. Part of the reason is considered to be due to strict hardware requirements, and many netizens also pointed out that Windows 10 is more stable.
