Digital Bros. and 505 Games Restructuring Continues, European Offices Closing Down

In a move that mirrors the industry trend, Digital Bros. and its subsidiary 505 Games have announced further restructuring, leading to the closure of their European offices. After announcing layoffs affecting 30% of their workforce in 2023, the Italian multinational is now shutting down branches in Germany, Spain, and France, as well as its headquarters in Milan.

While the number of employees affected this time is fewer than last year, the closure of these offices means a loss of direct regional relationships. This decision follows a global trend in the gaming industry, with publishers like EA, Activision, and 2K Games adopting similar strategies in recent years.

Despite the restructuring, ongoing projects like Control 2, Assetto Corsa 2, and Project Iron are still underway. Remedy now retains the rights to Control 2, which they had been collaborating on with 505 Games. Assetto Corsa 2, developed by Kunos Simulazioni, is expected to launch in 2024, while Project Iron, a AAA dark fantasy project by MercurySteam, is set for a late 2024 or early 2025 release.

The impact of the restructuring on these projects remains to be seen, but industry experts are closely watching how Digital Bros. and 505 Games navigate these changes in the coming months.
