NVIDIA Announces Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting Feature for RTX 40 SUPER Graphics Card
At CES 2024, NVIDIA unveiled the new RTX 40 SUPER graphics card, and along with it, announced a major collaboration with Twitch and OBS to launch the Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting function. This new feature utilizes Multi-Encode technology to provide multiple sets of image resolution encoding during live broadcasts, allowing audiences to watch smoothly in different environments.
Previously, only Twitch partners were able to guarantee real-time multi-resolution services during live broadcasts, leaving ordinary users without the option of additional resolution settings. The resource-intensive nature of simultaneous conversion during live broadcasts has been a limiting factor, leading to frozen or interrupted video content for audiences in less than ideal network environments.
In response to this issue, NVIDIA has worked with live broadcast software and OBS to introduce the Multi-Encode function for “all RTX graphics cards,” allowing broadcasters to provide multiple resolution video formats to Twitch servers during live broadcasts. This opens up multiple resolution options for all users, regardless of their partnership status with Twitch.
The Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting feature is currently in the Beta stage, with live broadcasters required to use the beta version of OBS software to enable this function. The program automatically determines the user’s hardware and network environment to provide three default image quality solutions, with the total required upload bandwidth falling between approximately 4 – 10 Mbps. Additionally, new technology has been introduced to enhance AV1 video encoding streaming, increasing compression efficiency by 40% and retaining clearer images without consuming more bandwidth.
The Beta function for Twitch Enhanced Broadcasting has been officially opened, allowing interested users to experience the new live streaming settings. This collaboration between NVIDIA, Twitch, and OBS is a significant development in the gaming and live streaming industry, promising a smoother and more flexible viewing experience for audiences around the world.
