The world of Ready Player could soon become (virtual) reality. At least that’s what Futureverse, an AI and metaverse technology company, is planning. Accordingly, should Ready Player One will soon have its own metaverse.

To implement this plan, the Futureverse company is working hand in hand with the author of the book, Ernest Cline, and Dan Farah, the producer of the film adaptation. They have that in common Readyverse Studios founded, as they announced on X.
Starting in 2024
There aren’t many details yet, but the Readyverse is scheduled to launch this year. Leveraging Futureverse’s comprehensive technology platform, including its ‘The Root Network’, the Readyverse will come to life within the coming months. The Root Network doesn’t just define itself as a traditional blockchain; rather, it allows users to move seamlessly in the Metaverse and effortlessly transfer their virtual goods between different worlds. So this means that the Readyverse will adhere to the principle of an open metaverse.
Readyverse Studios has teamed up with Warner Bros. Discovery to bring the Ready Player One series exclusively to the Metaverse in its first major commercial deal. This means that they have special rights to present everything related to Ready Player One on Web3, the next generation of the Internet. They will also be allowed to use all future ideas and creations from Cline, the creator of Ready Player One, exclusively in Web3.

When designing their metaverse, the Readystudios want to orientate themselves as closely as possible on the original novel and film of the OASIS. The OASIS is the virtual world in which the people in Cline’s novel live their everyday lives. The author himself is also enthusiastic. In an interview, he reveals: “The future has come to me even faster than I imagined.” He is looking forward to working together and is confident about the impending future of his world. A future he believes would make even Wade Watts and James Halliday proud.
