Samsung Rumored to Develop Affordable Folding Screen Mobile Phones

Rumors have been circulating for some time about Samsung’s plans to develop an affordable version of a folding screen mobile phone in order to expand its market presence. The latest information, however, suggests that these rumors may soon become reality.

According to reports from foreign media who have accessed Samsung’s international trade product import and export information database, there are three new folding screen products listed. German media outlet WinFuture has cited relevant authorities’ announcement on the online database, revealing that Samsung has registered two unreleased devices codenamed “Q6” and “B6”, also known as Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, respectively. Additionally, a device codenamed “Q6A” has been listed on the database since November 2023.

There is very little information available about the unknown device codenamed “Q6A” at this stage. Speculations suggest that it could be an affordable version of the foldable Galaxy A Fold or a sub-flagship Fan Edition version. Another possibility is that it may be a Galaxy Z Fold6 FE, considering the recently exposed Z Fold6 patent pictures, which indicate a significant change in appearance design and a move towards a thinner and lighter design.

The codenames “Q6” and “B6” are in line with Samsung’s previous naming conventions for its folding screen devices, with the current models Z Fold5 and Z Flip5 being codenamed Q5 and B5, respectively. This adds credibility to the theory of a third Samsung folding screen phone being in development.

While Samsung has yet to officially confirm these developments, the information obtained from the international trade product import and export database points towards the possibility of new affordable folding screen mobile phones from the tech giant in the near future.
