Samsung not only presented new smartphones last night, but also unveiled a completely new product: the Galaxy Ring. We summarize all the information that is already known about the gadget.

The reveal came at the very end of yesterday’s presentation and was teased with the words “we’re taking Samsung Health‘s capabilities to a new level.” Unfortunately, no concrete details followed. Instead, there was only a short video of the ring to see.
The video at least shows that it is equipped with various sensors on the inside. What functions they will have is unclear. They are probably intended to count steps, determine heart rate and monitor sleep, among other things. Functions that are already familiar from smartwatches.

The values will then probably be transferred to a smartphone and the “Samsung Health” app mentioned above. Unfortunately, Samsung has not yet revealed when the ring will come onto the market and how much it will cost. As soon as there is new information, we will of course report on it.
The idea of a smart ring is not new. The Finnish company Oura Health has had one in its range for some time. The Oura Ring also supports all typical tracking methods and is available from 329 euros. We’ll be curious to see whether the Galaxy Ring has any features that the competition doesn’t already have.
