Samsung Unveils World‘s First Transparent MicroLED TV at CES 2024
On Sunday night, Samsung wowed attendees at the annual First Look event at CES 2024 by introducing the world‘s first transparent MicroLED TV. The company showcased the revolutionary display alongside transparent OLED and LCD models to highlight the differences in technology.
The MicroLED panel stood out for its exceptional brightness, completely bezel-less design, and transparent glass panel, making it easier to see objects behind it. The effect of the transparent MicroLED TVs was described as a “hologram floating in the air,” creating a truly unique viewing experience.
With a high pixel density, the images on the MicroLED display appeared incredibly sharp. However, the company has not disclosed the price or availability of the new invention for commercial devices.
According to a Samsung spokesperson, the transparent MicroLED displays boast greater luminosity and are less affected by ambient light compared to transparent OLED panels. However, with Samsung’s current line of non-transparent MicroLED TVs costing $150,000 for a 110-inch model, it may be a while before the new transparent MicroLED TVs become more affordable.
Despite the uncertainty around pricing and availability, Samsung’s latest innovation has sparked excitement and interest in the future of display technology.
