Stiftung Warentest has updated its ranking of the best headphones – the Galaxy Buds FE from Samsung are now at the top. A small sensation, because they are significantly cheaper than the top models from well-known competitors.

Fresh entries for the list of the best in-ear headphones at Stiftung Warentest (online publication: February 6th, 2024): With an overall grade of 1.7 (“good”), first place goes to the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE. A remarkable victory, because the model only costs 109 euros (RRP, see Samsung) and is even available in stores around 70 euros can be found (see Amazon). That is comparatively little.

The mid-range in-ears from Samsung are therefore ahead of some expensive premium models in the rating – only slightly, but still clearly. Concrete examples are these Bose QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds (Overall grade 1.8 – around 280 euros, see Amazon), which Sony WF-1000XM5 (Overall grade 1.8 – around 250 euros, see Amazon), which Jabra Elite 10 (Overall grade 1.9 – around 200 euros, see Amazon) or that Denon PerL (Overall grade 2.0 – around 170 euros, see Amazon).

The basic features of the test winner correspond to the current equipment standard. The Samsung Galaxy Buds FE have Active noise cancellation (ANC)Bluetooth 5.2, USB-C and run up to 6 hours on a single charge.

A real price tip
Technically, the Samsung Galaxy Buds FE have to be classified as close to the expensive top models – and they are a hot tip in their price range, I have to agree with Stiftung Warentest. However, my personal experience does not entirely match the grades awarded. The Sony WF-1000XM5 sound better to me and the Bose QuietComfort Ultra EarBuds offer stronger noise canceling. There are also special features such as 3D audio that you should take into account when making your purchase decision. In the end, the conclusion remains: the price-performance ratio of the Galaxy Buds FE is fantastic.
