Sony PS5 Beats Nintendo Switch in Japan
Sony PS5 has finally surpassed Nintendo Switch in Japan, marking a rare victory for the console in the gaming market. According to “Famitsu” statistics on game and console sales data from Japan’s physical channels from January 15th to 21st, PS5 sold a total of 57,903 units, beating Nintendo Switch’s 43,692 units.
This success can largely be attributed to the exclusive game “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2”. The bundled machine debuted at the end of the year and contributed significantly to the increase in PS5 sales. “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2” also ranked first in game sales, with 30,220 units sold in a single week, outperforming popular Switch titles like “Momotaro Dentetsu World ~ The Earth Rotates Around Hope!” and “Super Mario Bros. Surprise”.
Looking at the global sales performance, PS5 has led the Switch by more than 3 million units, according to foreign media “VGChartz”‘s recent statistics from January to October. As the Switch’s life cycle enters an advanced stage and rumors of a new generation of consoles set to debut this year, PS5 may have the opportunity to gradually overtake its rival.
The news comes as a surprise to many, as Nintendo Switch has been dominating the gaming market in Japan. With the recent success of the PS5, the gaming landscape in Japan may be set for a significant shift.
As the battle between Sony and Nintendo continues, gamers can anticipate more exciting developments in the gaming industry.
