After almost a decade, Samsung is no longer the world‘s largest smartphone manufacturer per unit shipped. As revealed by the IDC market analysis, in fact, Apple overtook Samsung as the leading smartphone brand globally during the year just ended.
Il The Cupertino giant sold 234.6 million iPhones, obtaining a market share of 20.1%, while Samsung stopped at 226.6 million Galaxy with a share of 19.4%. For Samsung, this is a decline of 13.6% compared to the number of units distributed in 2022, when they stood at 262.2 million units.
Overall, in 2023 the entire market was in pain and recorded a contraction of 3.2% compared to 2022. However, 2024 could be a positive year for Samsung which is preparing to present the Galaxy S24 series which will focus everything on artificial intelligence, an aspect that gives the manufacturer great confidence for the future. Added to this will also be the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Z Fold6 which should arrive during the summer with important improvements.
It’s unclear which iPhone model is the most popularalthough some analyzes and predictions that emerged in the last few hours spoke of an excellent response obtained from the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which sports a titanium body and a significantly improved camera compared to the previous model.
The third manufacturer in the world was Xiaomi with a share of 12.5% and 146 million units shipped, however down 4.7% compared to the previous year. OPPO’s shipments will also decline by almost 10% in 2023.
