Zelda fans had to wait six long years for a new adventure with Link. But the time has finally come: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has appeared. As a sequel to the commercially most successful Zelda title, expectations were high Tears of the Kingdom high. Initial tests show that Nintendo’s latest prank is following in the oversized footsteps of the Switch hit Breath of the Wild but can very well fill.

Creativity top, story flop
Above all, the creative aspect of the game is praised. Already Breath of the Wild allowed a lot of playful freedom and multiple ways to solve a situation. This experimentation again seems to be the successor’s great strength and is praised across the board. Hyrule is once again becoming a building block for creative players who can let off steam in the vastness of the game world. Of course, this also has a positive effect on the replay value.
The words for the story, on the other hand, are much less positive. This is probably no more than a decorative accessory, but that’s already a tradition at Nintendo. The controls are also described as taking some getting used to. Also criticized is the recycling of the upper world, which is the same as in Breath of the Wild and was only supplemented by a few aspects.
However, none of this prevents testers around the world from handing out dream ratings. On Metacritic, the game already has an average score of 96 points, making it one of the top 5 best rated games Zelda-Enter games.
