I know where my data is
The internal “hard drive” (an SSD) on my laptop is of course far too small at 512 GB. On the one hand, I have my data “in the cloud”. My most important storage medium in everyday life are two external “hard drives”, to be precise they are fingernail-sized things (microSDXC memory cards):

My laptop has a slot on the side so that the storage medium can be easily changed and does not need to be connected with a separate cable.

These SDs are really small and I don’t want to lose them. That’s why I try to be fairly consistent and whenever I don’t have an SD card in my computer, I always put it in my storage box.

After I took out half of the molded foam, an AirTag found its location in the storage box. I found the AirTag (or more precisely an AirTag copy, 50 euros for an AirTag quite expensive. But my AirTag copy is also integrated into Apple’s “Find My” network) so it always shows me where my data is, that are not in the cloud and not in the laptop.

I hope that with this type of data storage I am adequately protected against the most obvious types of data loss. I also like the possibility of being able to quickly use my data on another laptop without having to copy it for a long time, simply by changing the SD card.
