The Co-CEO of Netflix commented on Apple Vision Pro in a less than positive way

After having discussed the lack of a Netflix app for Apple Vision Pro at launch (users will have to use a browser), the time has come to return to referring to the viewer that will arrive in the United States of America on February 2, 2024. Indeed, the Co-CEO of Netflix commented on Vision Pro in a not exactly positive way.

In this regard, as also reported by Gizmodo, in an interview granted to Stratechery and published on January 25, 2024, Greg Peters declared that he asked himself, in relation to the decision on the release of a possible app, whether this product will actually be relevant for most Netflix customers.

Peters therefore defined the Apple viewer as “subscale“, in short, considering it a sort of prototype, in the current state of affairs. The Netflix Co-CEO even went further: “we need to be careful not to invest in things that aren’t really producing a return: we’ll see how the Vision Pro issue evolves“.

It must be said that Peters did not deny any future changes of direction, especially in the event that Apple Vision Pro actually goes well beyond the expectations of the Netflix Co-CEO, but for the moment the position of the streaming giant it seems clear.

On the other hand, a native app for Vision Pro would require developing a control system that can be easily used using gestures, a move that may not prove to be exactly wise at a time when there is no indication of what the user base will actually be. How it will be received abroad the $3,499 headset? We can only wait and see.
