The Intel processor is “cut” and cannot use some functions of macOS Sonoma | XFastest News

Yesterday, Apple officially released the Mac Pro equipped with the M2 Ultra processor, declaring that the entire Mac product line will no longer use Intel processors.

At the same time, some users found that in the new macOS Sonoma system, there are some new functions that can only be used by Apple Silicon. That is to say, although a Mac equipped with an Intel processor can be upgraded to a new system version, there are functional defects.

In the macOS Sonoma update, only the functions supported by Apple Silicon processors are as follows:

Presenter Overlay: A new set of video effects that place users on top of shared content to highlight the speaker. When sharing your screen, you can choose a large or small overlay. The large overlay makes you the focus, and your screen content is displayed on another layer next to you. You can move, walk and talk in front of your content.

React with your hands: Use interesting 3D augmented reality effects to express your reaction, such as: heart shape, colored paper, fireworks, etc., and you can share your reaction with only one gesture.

Game mode: Automatically let the game get the highest priority of CPU and GPU on Mac, reduce the use of background tasks, and significantly reduce the delay of wireless accessories such as AirPods and handles, and feel a smoother response.

Siri: Siri can now wake up when you say “Siri”, this feature is currently only available in English (Australia, Canada, UK, US).

It is reported that macOS Sonoma will be officially opened to general users this fall.
