The product workers: When are product owners worthwhile?

The role of a “Product Owner” is being introduced in more and more organizations. But unfortunately this happens far too often without any reflection on whether this new responsibility for the challenge is effective, say product workers Dominique Winter and Oliver Winter. In this episode of their podcast they talk about when product ownership is actually worth it.

In their discussion, they cannot ignore the obvious benefits, such as clear decision-making responsibility for technical product decisions, improvement in decision-making speed and greater customer focus. However, they also take a look at the arguments that are less present.

In the second section of the episode, the podcasters explain when it is not worthwhile for companies to establish a product owner. They report on examples from their own professional practice and conclude the episode with a whole series of practical tips and tricks.

The current episode provides an overview of whether an organization should take the step towards becoming product owners in product development or not. And at the same time, as a product owner you can reflect on the extent to which you can operate successfully in your own environment.

The current edition of the podcast is also available on the Produktwerker blog: “When are product owners worth it?”

The organizers will judge on March 12th and 13th, 2024 in Cologne dpunkt.verlag and iX die Product Owner Days on site for the first time. In addition to over 20 lectures on agile product management, three workshops will take place the day before.
