‘The Shoe of Manitu’ is getting a sequel

A cult classic returns: Bully Herbig’s “The Shoe of Manitu” is getting a second part after almost 25 years. For many, the first film has long been a piece of German cultural heritage. The announcement of the successor promises a continuation of the humorous success story.

What: Constantin Film

“The Canoe of Manitu” is the official title of the sequel and should be shown in cinemas as early as 2025. This was announced by Constantin Film, Bully’s production company herbX and the broadcaster RTL, which was involved in the production.

The script was written by Michael “Bully” Herbig, Christian Tramitz and Rick Kavanian. Michael “Bully” Herbig once again sets the tone, both in directing and producing. With almost 12 million cinema-goers in 2001, “The Shoe of Manitu” has proven to be one of the biggest German cinema hits. The parody of the Winnetou films of the 60s is a funny homage, peppered with ambiguous dialogue, perfectly timed slapstick and a great cast.

In addition to the well-known faces like Abahachi, Ranger and Dimitri, we can of course also look forward to some new additions, but who exactly they will be is still unknown. Filming is scheduled to start later this year. Bully Herbig shares his enthusiasm: “We all stood at the printer very excited. And when we finally got the script in our hands, we couldn’t believe our luck: it’s a comedy!“. In any case, we can be excited and look forward to the cinema year 2025.
