The construction industry is not only responsible for 38 percent of global CO2 emissions, but also for more than half of all waste, and the trend is rising. The Tyrolean startup revitalyze wants to change that. The young company is developing a one-stop shop for the reuse of recyclable components from existing buildings. With this, the company wants to automate the procurement of materials for circular components and at the same time offer a solution for calculating the carbon footprint.

revitalyze wants to revolutionize the construction industry
“We believe our platform has the potential to revolutionize the construction industry and drive much-needed change,” said co-founder David Plaseller. Together with Patrick Gössl he brought revitalyze to life. According to the two founders, less than one percent of the materials produced during demolition are currently reused in other buildings, although up to 70 percent of CO2 emissions could be saved here.
revitalyze is therefore pursuing the goal of making the reuse of components the standard. Existing buildings often lack the data and tools to capture components and keep them in circulation. For this purpose, the start-up is developing a digital solution from inventory analysis to active mediation in the partner network. This should make construction sites much more sustainable.

Startup is a finalist at the World Global Congress 2023
The young company has already received awards with this concept. Among other things, revitalyze won the Tyrolean Innovation Prize in 2021, is now among the finalists of the Josef Umdasch Research Prize and will present its solution at the World Global Congress 2023 from May 31st to June 3rd in Puebla, Mexico.
“We are delighted to be a finalist at World Global Congress 2023 as it gives us the opportunity to showcase our approach to a global audience,” said Plaseller. “Our mission is to take circular building from a niche topic to mainstream, and this recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our team.” As a finalist at the World Global Congress, revitalyze aims to use the opportunity to showcase its platform to a diverse audience and compete with other innovative startups.
