Vivo Launches Blueprint Imaging Brand, Hinting at Revolutionary Technology in Upcoming X100 Ultra
Vivo has officially announced the launch of its new “Blueprint Imaging” brand, showcasing the cutting-edge imaging technology that may be featured in the upcoming vivo X100 Ultra smartphone. The choice of the name “Blueprint” is a nod to the prevalent use of the color blue in many of Vivo’s branding elements, with Chinese internet users affectionately referring to the company as the “Blue Factory.”
The Blueprint Imaging brand encompasses both hardware and software technologies, with Vivo developing its own image processing algorithm to complement its V-series imaging chips. The first V1 imaging chip was released towards the end of 2021, and the latest vivo X100 series devices are already equipped with the V3 imaging chips. This new imaging technology aims to address common photography challenges such as shooting in backlight conditions, capturing high-quality images in low light settings, and improving performance when using telephoto lenses or taking group photos.
The Vivo X100 Ultra is expected to feature a groundbreaking photography setup, with executives touting it as a “professional camera that can make calls.” Rumored specifications include a 50-megapixel 1/0.98-inch Sony Lytia LYT-900 main lens, as well as a 100mm (4.3x) telephoto periscope lens with a 200-megapixel sensor. Additionally, Vivo is expanding its partnership with Zeiss to co-develop mobile phone lenses, with plans to leverage algorithms and AI technology for enhanced imaging capabilities.
Jingdong, a vice president of Vivo, shared on Weibo that the collaboration between Vivo and Zeiss represents a new phase in their partnership, focusing on joint research and development to enhance technical prowess. The combination of high-quality lenses in the X100 Ultra and the innovative software and hardware technologies of Blueprint Imaging promises an exciting new imaging experience for users.
