Windows 11 Insider Build introduces new feature allowing users to use Android phones as wireless webcams
Microsoft has announced the addition of a new mobile phone interconnection function to the preview version of Windows 11 Insider Build 23619. This new feature allows any application that uses video on the Windows 11 operating system to connect to an Android phone or tablet and use the phone’s lens as a wireless webcam.
To utilize this feature, users need to have a smartphone operating system of Android 9.0 or above and have downloaded Windows Phone App version 1.24012 or higher. Once set up, Windows 11 will treat the phone camera as a normal webcam, allowing users to take advantage of the high-quality shooting performance and sound collection capabilities of the phone lens.
This feature supports HDR technology, allows for switching between the front and rear cameras, and provides filters for added effects. While this new feature may render advanced webcams used for live broadcasts obsolete, it presents an exciting opportunity for Windows 11 users who own an Android phone to test out the shooting capabilities.
If you are a Windows 11 Insider and own an Android phone, it is recommended to give this new feature a try to experience the full potential of your device’s camera.
