Windows 10 Users Facing Full-Screen Prompt to Upgrade to Windows 11 Before Support Ends
A Reddit user recently shared his experience of receiving a full-screen prompt on his Windows 10 computer, reminding users to upgrade to Windows 11 before the end of support. The prompt was meant to guide users to upgrade before the end of Windows 10 support on October 14, 2025, but many computers still on the market do not meet the hardware requirements for Windows 11.
The Reddit user, Woopinah9, received the notification while at work, where Microsoft thanked Windows 10 users and explained the end of support date. Unfortunately, this user’s computer cannot be upgraded to Windows 11 due to hardware limitations. The notification stated that the computer will continue to receive Windows 10 updates until the end of support in 2025.
The full-screen prompt also includes links to end-of-support articles and Windows 11 promotional pages. It only offers options to “Learn More” or “Remind Me Later,” suggesting that users may receive the notification multiple times before support officially ends.
It is important to note that the prompt does not mention that users can continue using Windows 10 after support ends by purchasing Extended Security Updates (ESU). For business users, ESU for Windows 10 will cost $61 per device in the first year, with increasing costs in subsequent years.
As Windows 10 users are faced with the decision to upgrade to Windows 11 or pay for extended support, it is clear that Microsoft is pushing users to transition to the latest operating system. Stay tuned for more updates on Windows 11 and Microsoft’s plans for the future.
