GamesIndustry.biz has recently released sales information for the European gaming market in February 2024, with some surprising results. The biggest game of the month in terms of both physical and digital sales was Helldivers 2, beating out tough competition from EA Sports FC 24, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, and Grand Theft Auto V.

While exact sales figures for Helldivers 2 in Europe have not been disclosed, it has been reported that approximately 56% of the game’s sales were on the PC platform. The success of Helldivers 2 was evident in its sales performance over the month, with a 70% increase in its second week, followed by a 3% increase in week three, and then a 28% decrease in week four.

The impact of Helldivers 2’s success was also felt in the console space, with overall console sales in Europe down 14% compared to February 2023. However, the PlayStation 5 managed to only drop 2% year-on-year, while the Nintendo Switch fell 17% and the Xbox Series X/S fell 47%.

In terms of the best-selling games for February 2024, aside from Helldivers 2, the list included popular titles such as EA Sports FC 24, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth, Grand Theft Auto V, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, Red Dead Redemption 2, Hogwarts Legacy, It Takes Two, Skull and Bones, and surprisingly, Need for Speed: Heat. Additionally, Mario vs. Donkey Kong ranked at No. 15 in terms of physical sales, just behind Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
