**Dengue Alarm in Brazil and Vietnam: Record-breaking Cases Spark Concern**

In a span of less than three months, Brazil has shattered its previous record for dengue cases in a year, with nearly 2 million infections reported. The South American giant has recorded 1,889,206 probable cases, the highest number since 2000, according to the Ministry of Health. This figure is four times higher than the number of cases reported during the same period in 2023. The country has also seen a significant increase in dengue-related deaths, with 561 confirmed so far.

Ten Brazilian states, including Sao Paulo, have declared a state of emergency in response to the escalating crisis. This alarming situation has raised concerns among health officials and the public alike, as efforts are being made to combat the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.

Meanwhile, in Vietnam, dengue is also on the rise, particularly in the capital city of Hanoi. Since the beginning of 2024, Hanoi has reported 513 cases of infection, triple the number compared to the same period in 2023. The city has witnessed a surge in cases in recent weeks, prompting local health authorities to take action.

In response to the dengue outbreak, the Hanoi Health Department plans to mobilize health teams to support prevention, treatment, and public health improvement efforts at a local level. In 2023, Hanoi recorded 36,795 cases of dengue, while the country as a whole reported over 172,000 infections and 43 deaths.

As the dengue crisis continues to escalate in Brazil and Vietnam, health officials are exploring new strategies to curb the spread of the disease. One proposed measure includes testing individuals arriving from high-risk areas at airports to prevent further outbreaks. The need for greater prevention and intervention efforts is evident as both countries grapple with the mounting dengue cases and related fatalities.
