You can also play Nintendo emulator on your iPad! Delta will launch iPad version

Delta, the popular Nintendo emulator that recently made waves on the iPhone App Store, is now gearing up for an iPad-optimized version. Developer Riley Testut announced exciting news on Threads over the weekend, revealing that the iPad iteration of the emulator is currently in development and progressing quickly thanks to Apple’s shifting perspective on game emulators.

The iPad version of Delta is said to be “nearly complete,” with the development team just putting the finishing touches on the controller’s design and addressing some final bugs. Testut’s Patreon supporters can already access the beta version through AltStore, an alternative marketplace for sideloading apps on iPadOS. For those who prefer not to sideload, the official launch will be included in Delta’s upcoming major update, version 1.6.

In addition to this update, Testut also shared previews of how the Nintendo DS games will perform on the iPad. The DS emulator within Delta will support both the upper and lower screens of the device, with the lower screen able to be displayed in keyboard form. This opens up possibilities for multitasking, such as looking up game guides while playing.

Delta originated from Testut’s Game Boy Advance emulator, GBA4iOS, and has since expanded to support various Nintendo systems like NES, SNES, N64, and DS. The developer also hinted at a multiplayer feature in the works, allowing direct connections between devices. Although this may not be available right away, Testut also disclosed plans for a Genesis emulator from Sega, currently in testing but set to be released soon.
