Although Star Citizen has been in development since 2010 and has cost more than $664 million, the game has not yet progressed beyond alpha status. However, this does not detract from the success. There are already more than five million players on the website.
Anyone who hasn’t joined yet but would like to at least try out the game can now take part in the so-called “Fly Free” campaign. This offers you the opportunity to test the game for free until February 15, 2024. For this purpose, the developer provides you with five different spaceships: Origin 100i, Origin 400i, Nomad, Prospector and Scorpius. As part of the test phase, you can also experience two in-game events directly. The Red Festival (Lunar New Year) and Coramor (Valentine’s Day).

A Windows PC with a DirectX 11-capable graphics card and at least 4 GB of video memory is recommended. A quad-core CPU with AVX instructions (Sandy Bridge processor from Intel and Bulldozer processor from AMD or newer) and at least 16 GB of RAM are also required for a reasonably smooth display.
