[NTD News, July 1, 2021, Beijing time]The search and rescue work for the collapse of an apartment building in Miami, Florida, has entered its eighth day. At present, the number of victims has risen to 18, and another 147 people are still missing. US President Biden and his wife went to Miami on Thursday to offer condolences. At present, the survivors of the accident have filed a lawsuit against the building management.

On Wednesday, the search and rescue team found the remains of six more victims from the rubble, the youngest being only 4 years old.

The search and rescue team also hopes to find information about the victims through the photos found.

Benjamin Abo, the medical director of the search and rescue team: “Our plan is to find someone smarter than me and figure out what we found (who the photo belongs to).”

The reason for the collapse of the building has not yet been announced. However, at least one resident has filed a lawsuit against the building management.

The Washington Post reported on Thursday that in the fall of 2019, most of the building’s board of directors decided to withdraw on the grounds that the building maintenance problem could not be resolved.
