2024 Election KPPS Technical Guidance Schedule, Here are the Guidance Materials and Plans for KPPS 1 to 7

The 2024 elections will soon be held on February 14 2024. As voting organizers at the TPS level, KPPS members have a very important role in ensuring that elections are democratic, honest, fair and transparent.

For this reason, KPPS members must prepare themselves well, one of which is by following technical guidance (bimtek) organized by the KPU.

KPPS Bimtek is training that aims to provide the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed by KPPS members in carrying out their duties and responsibilities.

The KPPS Technical Guidance will contain material presentations and simulations in the field covering technical matters in KPPS work, starting from TPS preparation, voting, to vote counting.

The KPPS Technical Guidance will also discuss cases that are likely to occur in the 2024 Election and how to resolve them.

The KPU has set a schedule for the 2024 KPPS Election technical guidance which will be implemented from 25-27 January 2024.

The KPPS technical guidance will be attended by all KPPS members as many as seven people per TPS, different from the previous election which only provided technical guidance to one KPPS member per TPS.

This is intended to improve the quality of eligibility for voters, professionalism, accountability, integrity and transparency in the implementation of the 2024 elections.

To assist KPPS members in carrying out their duties, the KPU has released a KPPS Guidebook which functions as a work guide for the KPPS group in carrying out voting and counting procedures for the 2024 Election.

The 2024 Election KPPS guidebook can be downloaded here. The 2024 Election KPPS guidebook contains, among other things:

  • KPPS duties and responsibilities
  • Preparation for polling stations
  • Voting
  • Vote counting
  • Preparation of event reports
  • Submission of vote counting results
  • Handling violations
  • Dispute handling
  • Handling of ballot boxes and ballot papers
  • Handling disabled voters and voters who need assistance

Apart from the guidebook, the KPU has also established a KPPS plan 1 to 7 which shows the position and duties of each KPPS member at the TPS.

Plans for KPPS 1 to 7 can be seen here. The following is a brief explanation of the duties of KPPS members 1 to 7:

  • KPPS 1: Chairman of the KPPS, tasked with calling voters, signing ballot papers, giving ballots, and providing replacement ballots if any.
  • KPPS 2: KPPS members, tasked with preparing ballot papers which will be opened and declared valid or not by the KPPS chairman.
  • KPPS 3: KPPS members, tasked with recording the number of voters, number of ballot papers and certificates of vote counting results.
  • KPPS 4: KPPS members, tasked with recording the results of research on each ballot paper announced by the KPPS chairman.
  • KPPS 5: KPPS members, tasked with directing voters to enter the voting booth and assisting voters with disabilities or voters who need assistance.
  • KPPS 6: KPPS members, tasked with directing voters to insert ballot papers into the ballot box according to the type of vote and ensuring that all ballot papers have been inserted.
  • KPPS 7: KPPS members, tasked with giving signatures on voters’ little fingers with ink that doesn’t disappear easily and giving stickers to voters.
