400 kilometers aboard a dilapidated car: the incredible escape of the suspects of the Moscow massacre

The escape of the attackers from the Moscow concert hall following the Crocus Music Hall massacre has raised serious questions about the response of Russian security forces to the incident. According to reports from the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera, the terrorists managed to travel hundreds of kilometers in a dilapidated car before being captured, evading police, special troops, cameras, and satellites for hours.

The attack, classified as a terrorist act by Russian authorities and claimed by the jihadist group ISIS-K, lasted just 13 minutes, resulting in 140 deaths and 80 injuries. The attackers arrived at the concert hall in Krasnogorsk in a white Renault Symbol, carrying out the massacre before setting fire to the premises and fleeing in the same vehicle.

Despite being captured on security cameras at the concert hall, the attackers managed to drive almost 400 kilometers without being stopped, bypassing surveillance systems on the Russian highway network. The pursuit continued into Bryansk, on the border with Ukraine, where a joint Border Coverage Group eventually intercepted the suspects.

Following a tense standoff, the attackers were found hiding in a forest, with one captured after being cut down from a tree and the others located in a ravine. The suspects, identified as Tajik citizens, were charged with terrorism and could face life in prison.

In addition to the suspects, Aminchon Islómov, Dilovar Islómov, and Isroil Islómov were also detained, with Dilovar reportedly owning the car used in the attack. During a court hearing, Dilovar maintained his innocence, stating that they turned themselves in after recognizing the vehicle in the attack footage.

The incident has sparked criticism of the government and security forces, with citizens questioning how the attack could occur despite warnings from the United States and the authorities’ reputation for crackdowns on dissent. The investigation into the Crocus Music Hall massacre and the subsequent capture of the attackers continue to unfold.
