Ciamis Police are still investigating the motive behind the tragic murder case committed by Tarsum (41), who mutilated the body of his wife Yanti (40).
“We cannot yet conclude the motive because the perpetrator still cannot be questioned,” said Ciamis Police Chief AKBP Akmal when contacted on Monday 6 May 2024.
However, when asked about the motive for Tarsum’s debt of around IDR 100 million, AKBP Akmal explained that the debt did exist, but was not due to his involvement in gambling.
“It is true that there is debt, but not from gambling activities,” explained Akmal.
Kasatreskrim Cimahi Police AKP Joko Prihatin also confirmed that Tarsum had a debt. However, he stated that it was still difficult to investigate the motive because Tarsum’s mental condition was not yet stable.
“Based on witness statements, there is indeed a debt of more than IDR 100 million. Currently, it is difficult to communicate with him, and we will carry out a psychiatric examination today,” said Joko.
Joko explained that the debt owed by Tarsum was used for his daily needs and to pay debts from his less profitable cattle and goat slaughtering business.
