Ericsson Day – 5G For Critical National Infrastructure was held on 4 December 2023 in Rome. An event of international resonance where crucial issues relating to the current and future state of 5G and critical national infrastructures were addressed.
Even though more than a month has passed, it is interesting to go back and analyze what the CEO of Ericsson Italia said on the occasion, Andrea Missori
The CEO, in fact, has released significant statements that highlight the current panorama and future prospects of 5G technology in Europe.
During the convegno ‘5G for critical national infrastructure’Andrea Missori in fact underlined the current challenge that European operators must face to achieve acceptable 5G coverage, highlighting that Europe is just reaching 11% coverage after 4 years.
A comparison was made with India, which achieved a remarkable 8% national mid-band 5G coverage at the end of 2022, in just 6 months. An extraordinary result for the Asian subcontinent which also suffers from its enormous territorial vastness.
“5G coverage will be available to more than 45% of the world‘s population by the end of 2023 and 85% by the end of 2029”, Missori projected, outlining an ambitious vision for the future of global communications infrastructure. In the context of this growth, he anticipated that the global consumption of mobile data traffic for smartphones will reach 56 GB per month by the end of 2029.
CEO Ericsson highlighted the acceleration of global mobile network data traffic, predicting a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 25% through 2028.
This increase in data traffic remains a powerful driver of demand for mobile networks. Missori highlighted that much of this traffic is generated inside buildings (home and offices, ed.), underlining theIt is important to extend 5G mid-band coverage to ensure a full 5G experience.
L’Ericsson Day He then offered an in-depth look at the present and future of global communications infrastructure, underlining the crucial importance of 5G technology for the growth and security of nations.
