Traces of the fishing boat that set sail from Kafountine, a coastal city in southern Senegal which is about 1,700 km (1,057 miles) from Tenerife, have already been lost for a week. On board were at least 200 African migrants who Spanish rescuers are now searching for in the waters off the Canary Islands. There are many children on board, according to the Spanish news agency Efe. It seems that two other similar boats with other migrants on board are missing, one of the two with 65 people on board, the other with 60. An airplane is participating in the search.
