The “sheriff” Adams is 60 years old, he is African American, he was a police officer for 22 years, until he reached the rank of captain; then he entered local politics and had positions as a member of parliament in the local legislature, finally mayor of Brooklyn (one of the five “boroughs” or neighborhoods of New York).
