A big cargo ship crashed into a pylon in the American night Francis Scott Key Of Baltimore: the bridge took fire and it’s collapsedcausing some to fall into the water auto who were traveling along it. There are at least 7 missingthe US media report, explaining that according to an initial reconstruction set vehicleseven a truck, fell into the water after the bridge collapsed. The accident occurred around1.30local time, (le 6.30 Italian): in broad daylight the number of cars involved would have been much higher, given that the bridge was crossed by four lanes. Rescuers are at work when in Maryland it’s still the middle of the night. According to the Baltimore Fire Department communications manager, “the entire bridge collapsed into the Patapsco River.” The ship that hit the bridge also caught fire and is sunk.
The first report of the accident came with a call to 911. After the crash, the bridge caught fire before collapsing. The video of one fixed camera surveillance on the Baltimore Bridge (see above) shows the freighter immediately before and during the collision with the arch in the center of the two pylons. The footage shows the arch collapsing into the water and onto part of the ship’s deck over the course of just twenty seconds. The ship was the merchant Daliwhich flew the flag of Singapore and had left Baltimore to head towards Sri Lanka.
Rescue operations began immediately with the involvement of the US Coast Guard and other Maryland agencies. “Traffic alert in Baltimore, avoid I-695 in the southeast corridor. Collapse of the I-695 Key Bridge due to ship strike. Active scene. Use I-95 or I-895,” the Maryland Transportation Authority wrote on X. “Pray for those affected,” he wrote on X Johnny OlszewskiBaltimore County Executive.
