The most painful and yet the most controversial topic is the enormous suffering in the territory of the former Yugoslavia.

The terrible events in Srebrenica in the period between July 16 and 23, 1995, and 28 years later, created even greater divisions, opened old debates and new battles. Serbs will mostly call that unbearable massacre “crime in Srebrenica”, Bosniaks “genocide in Srebrenica”, and the International Court of Justice labeled it as such. The victims are unfortunately lost forever, and counting them creates new difficulties. Even if everything can be discussed, the truth is that no victim should be underestimated, and that remembering the victims from only one side opens up space for new conflicts. If there is a claim that the future is deteriorating because of the bloody war past, we ask what is the future of our region?
