– Child dies after accident with agricultural vehicle
Late on Tuesday evening, a child was trapped and fatally injured by an agricultural vehicle in Köniz.

A child died in an accident in the municipality of Köniz on Tuesday evening. According to the cantonal police, it was trapped by an agricultural vehicle and was seriously injured.
Despite immediate rescue measures, the child succumbed to his serious injuries in the hospital a short time later, the Bern cantonal police and the public prosecutor’s office announced on Wednesday. The police were alerted shortly after 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
A police spokeswoman did not want to provide further information about the accident when asked. It initially remained unclear whether it was a traffic accident or an industrial accident and where exactly it occurred. The child’s age and gender were also not disclosed.
Several patrols and special services from the Bern cantonal police were deployed. The further investigation is under the direction of the regional public prosecutor’s office in Bern-Mittelland, it said in the communiqué.
