BRUSSELS – “The need for a greater and stronger defense of the EU has never been more evident than today after the events in Afghanistan. We must look for something more operational”. “Sometimes there are events that catalyze history, that create a turning point, and I think that Afghanistan is one of these cases”, underlined the head of European foreign policy, calling for the creation of a European “first response force” . Borrell expects the final draft of the strategic plan to be ready between October and November.
