Tehran expected the presence of Shiite exponents in the new government of the Sunni Taliban.
International Aid Conference in Geneva

I am grateful to all the United Nations, NGOs and other humanitarian workers who are working hard on the field to meet these needs “. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, Filippo Grandi, tweets it. UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres will chair an international conference in Geneva today, in an attempt to raise more than $ 600 million for the Afghan population. Even before the Taliban returned to power, half of the Afghan population (around 18 million people) depended on aid. A figure looks set to rise due to drought and a shortage of money and food, UN officials and humanitarian organizations warn.
