The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported that an Al Jazeera journalist was shot dead in the West Bank. Shireen Abu Akleh was shot in the head and died shortly after. Another Palestinian journalist who works for the Al-Quds newspaper based in Jerusalem was also injured, but her conditions are stable.
Shireen Abu Akleh was killed in clashes between Palestinian militiamen and the Israeli army in the Jenin refugee camp. According to the Palestinian agency Wafa, which cites the Palestinian Ministry of Health, Abu Akleh, 51, “died after being hit by the occupation army”.
Reporters were hit by Israeli fire as they followed a raid in Jenin, in the West Bank. The Israeli army has not commented at the moment. In recent weeks, raids in the West Bank have been almost daily while attacks have continued in Israel, many of them carried out by Palestinians from Jenin.
