Alarm from China: first case of H10N3 avian infection

Another variant, but this time it is not Coronavirus. News of a first detected case of human infection with the H10N3 strain of avian influenza has spread from China. According to reports, the virus was transmitted from an animal to a 41-year-old man in the eastern province of Jiangsu, who was hospitalized with flu symptoms on April 28.

The news was released yesterday evening by the National Health Commission (NHC) of Beijing which added that “the risk of a large-scale spread is extremely low”. At the moment the man is being monitored and could be discharged as early as the next few days. Together with him, relatives and close contacts were also monitored.
